Sallyanne Atkinson is one of the most respected public figures in Queensland and has an extraordinary record of service to the Australian public and business community.
She is the Chairman of Barton Deakin’s Queensland division and works with the company’s Brisbane-based consultants providing government relations, business and strategic advice to the firm’s clients. She is the public face of Barton Deakin’s Queensland business.
Sallyanne was the elected Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1985 to 1991 and presided over a period of extensive growth and development for the city. She was the first woman and first Liberal elected to the Lord Mayoralty.
After her career in representative politics, Sallyanne went on to represent Queensland and Australia in a number of roles including as the Australian Trade Commissioner to France, Australia’s representative to the International Chamber of Commerce, representative of the Australian Olympic Committee, Special Representative for the Queensland Government in South East Asia, honorary Consul for Brazil in Queensland and numerous other roles.
She has 20 years experience as a non executive director of public companies and even more at all levels of Australian government.
Sallyanne has been the recipient of many significant community and academic honours. She was admitted as an Officer in the Order of Australia in 1993.
