Lucas Pender

Policy and Business Analyst

Lucas Pender is a Policy and Business Analyst in Barton Deakin’s Canberra office where he supports the company’s consultants with policy, political, legislative, legal and economic analysis.


He is also responsible for Barton Deakin’s famous business briefs on federal government activity.

Lucas is currently completing his Honours in Political Science at the Australian National University, writing his thesis on campaign finance and institutional leadership in the US Congress. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy at the same university with a high-distinction average and was awarded the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation.

Besides his passion for Australian politics, Lucas has a strong interest in US politics and recently undertook a one-semester Legislative Internship with the US Congress in Washington DC.

He also participated in the ANU international exchange program, studying Government and Political Philosophy at The University of Texas in Austin.

During his studies in Canberra, Lucas has gained experience working part-time at a consultancy firm specialising in agricultural industries and completed an internship at the Australian Parliament where he produced a major research report on secondary school outcomes for Indigenous students.
